The Power of the Cross

What a wonderful service we had on Easter Sunday morning at West Hills Baptist Church.  Stan did such an amazing job putting the drama together.  The music was outstanding and I have been singing The Power of the Cross since Sunday.  The choir looked and sounded great.  It would be nice if all those who sang this week would continue with the choir the rest of the year.  It was a very touching performance and I would like to thank everyone who participated in any way with this production.

Thank you to Carrie Dixon for sharing the picture.
The cross had been on my mind for several weeks before Easter.  This has always been a special time for me to reflect on the greatest gift that anyone ever gave to me.  The gift of everlasting life is something that we should celebrate every day of our life.
It always amazes me (and pleases me) when God shows Himself to me during my daily activities.  One morning several days before Easter I was on the way to Hermitage.  Traveling down Lebanon Road something caught my eye.  I SAW A CROSS!  It was in front of me and seemed to be saying "follow me".  I had to step on the accelerator and fish out my phone to record this miracle before it disappeared.  This is what I saw...
Do you see the cross?  This small glimpse of God made me happy all day long and I will always remember this morning and this gentle reminder of His love and sacrifice.  I know it is corny but that day I sang:
 Amazing Grace
How sweet the sound
that saved a WRECK
Like me...
Now I know that is not the correct lyric to that song, but I did see a WRECKER that morning and it brought me face to face with the cross.  What a great way to start any day.

BOOK REVIEW

The Reason by William Sirles

I read this book because it was featured as a new book in the library.  Although it is Christian fiction, the miracles which occur in this book are very similar to those we read about in the Bible.

This book contains a series of miracles that take place in the lives of a man of God, his family and his friends. One man (a carpenter) is always involved when the miracles happen.  Folks in the town begin to wonder who he is and how these things are happening.
From the beginning to the very end, his message is “Only Believe.”  Throughout the book you watch the changes in people’s lives as they meet this Man and question their own belief system.
The book’s message to the reader is to believe in the unseen and not put their faith in man or modern medicine.

This month's book review is by Debbie Irvin

Several books from our Wish List were donated during the month.  They will be processed soon and added to our inventory.  These additions will complete several of the Karen Kingsbury series.  We still need a few more to finish the series we have started.  See our Wish List on the right hand side of the page for the titles.

Thank you to Billy and Bobby Shelton for their donation during March.  Thanks also for those anonymous donations made during the month.

DVD's Are Gaining Popularity

We are also seeking donations of family oriented movies on DVD.  We are no longer providing VHS movies.  Please limit your donations to those on DVD.
Also, summertime is fast approaching and the traveling season will begin soon.  Many families enjoy listening to audio books while on the road.  We have a few in the library but would also like to add more to our inventory for your enjoyment.
We will provide some suggested titles on our Wish List next month for both DVD's and Audion Books.

FACEBOOK PAGE - WEST HILLS BAPTIST CHURCH LIBRARY

Our Facebook page is gaining in popularity.  It is amazing how many from all over the United States visit our page.  One day we reached well over 200 people.  How exciting it is for the Library Committee to see this ministry grow almost daily.  Thanks for sharing us with your friends.

Francine Rivers is one of the most popular Christian writers in our library.  If you have not read her Marta's Legacy series, take a few minutes and watch the trailers for these two books. Just click on the two links below.
