Good Morning West Hills Baptist Church

We are so happy to be publishing our first blog since July.  Most of you know that I had a stroke in August when I went into the hospital to have an arteriogram.   I have had to take it easy for a little while but I am pleased to say that I am progressing with my rehabilitation and doing great.  The Lord is good!

The Library Committee has continued to work together and we have some more great additions to tell you about this month.   Thank you for continuing to make donations to the library.

The following have made donations to us since July:

Jeff and Jennifer Medlin, Susan Crabtree, Cyril Cathcart, Michaela Everett, Roxanne Luna, Julie Barrett, Tina Gaerte, Pam Gillis, and Linda Bain

Susan Crabtree was in the library one Sunday morning and overheard some of our young readers talking about The Shadow Children series by Margaret Haddix.  They were telling us how much they enjoyed reading the series,  The problem - we did not have the whole series!  Susan completed our series for us and now we have all of the books in this series.  Just how good are these books?  Our book review this month was written by Joseph.  He is the young man that was telling us all about this series.

AMONG THE HIDDEN

(Background info)  The Shadow Children takes place in the future when families can only have two children.  If by chance, they have a third child, they have to hide and not be a part of the family.

"What I like about Among the Hidden is that there is drama.  When Luke finds another third child (her name is Jen) she dies.  Luke gets a fake I.D. and tries to save all of the third children."

Joseph was intrigued by this whole concept of the third children because of the size of his own family.   What if we were living in that generation?  What would happen to all of the third children in our church?

October is Staff Appreciation Month at West Hills and Life's Journey Sunday School Class decided to do something different for them this month.  They have purchased over twenty new books for our Library in honor of Brother Jonas, Ross, Stan, Debbie and Janet.  This gift will continue to bless others for many years to come.

Some of the new books have already been put into our inventory.  Be sure and check the Recent Additions page on the right hand side of the blog.

Remember Thursday October 24th is a Library Work Day.  We will meet in the Library at 9:00 am and work until 12:00.  Everyone is welcome.  We can use your help.  Bring a sack lunch and we will eat togehter at 12.00.

We  will try to publish another blog soon to keep you abreast of what is happening in the library.  Until then, please continue to pray for those who are sick and those facing difficult times.
