Crafting Your Own Heritage Album

Product Details
I've seen several books devoted to the topic of heritage scrapping, but none cover all the details specific to preserving family memories like this book does. The usual information regarding album choice, supplies and terminology are included here. Ms. Braun takes the artform a step further and provides examples and ideas to help make your heritage album more than a simple "photo album." She suggests principles for choosing color and theme and the book has ample illustrations of pages that reflect an attractive style that enhances rather than overpowers these old photos. Use of non-photo documents is well covered, too.
She provides a great deal of information for those who might wish to delve into geneaology as part of their project. Numerous resources are suggested to help the novice explore their family tree. She even has examples of how to handle the "unknowns" you will certainly encounter along the way. She shows a pair of photos, one of her great-great grandmother and an "unknown close friend"--not her great-great grandfather! There's a story waiting to be told there, and what a clever way to include the photo and allow the viewer's imagination free rein.

The Resolution for Women

Written in partnership with Sherwood Pictures' upcoming film, COURAGEOUS, in The Resolution for Women, popular speaker and author Priscilla Shirer challenges all women to be intentional about embracing and thriving in God’s beautiful and eternal calling on their lives.

Like the men in the movie who resolve to fully accept their responsibilities before God, Shirer explains how today's women can and should live out their own resolution. It is "a defining banner that hangs over your life, written in the ink of your own choices." A woman's banner should be an accurate reflection of who she desires to be-someone completely Christ-centered who blesses and changes things in her world for the better.

The Resolution for Women inspires women with intentional, spirit-filled living from three unique angles. Section one, entitled, "This Is Who I Am," helps a woman define herself as "authentically me, purposefully feminine, surprisingly satisfied, and faithfully His." Section two, "This Is What I Have," invites her to value "my best, my blessing, my honor, and my heart." And Section three, "This Is What Matters To Me," focuses on joyfully honoring God as a wife, mother, and family member while resolving to live with the grace that leaves a godly legacy. The Resolution for Women is designed to inspire a revolution.

Biography

Product Details A Lifetime of Wisdom

It's not what I lost. It's what I've found. I was only seventeen, just a girl, when God asked me for everything I had ... my health, my hopes, my independence, my dreams, my freedom, and my mobility. He took it all. I was so angry with Him that I tried to push Him away. God relentlessly held me more closely. Looking back, forty years later, I understand that God has changed and healed me---my heart and my mind---in the most unexpected ways, giving me rubies of His wisdom about an unbending faith and an experience of His mercy I can now tell you about. Was it a fair exchange, my freedom and no wheelchair for the rubies of wisdom I've been given? Absolutely. In this I have learned at the feet of the Lord Jesus, embracing the way that God heals us, even when we rage at Him in anger, fear, and despair. This book is not about what I lost in that diving accident so long ago. It's about the wisdom He's given me to live life victoriously in the face of disappointments and challenges that we all face.

A Tribute to George Younce (G)

Product DetailsIf you're at the stage of life where the kids are grown and gone, and you're at the station in your Christian life where you are beginning to look forward to your final homecoming, you will treasure this presentation. My wife and I have watched it many times-alone and with friends-and we've bought copies that we've had sent to others.

I had never heard of George Younce before my mom introduced me to this DVD a few months ago. George passed on in April of 2005, and I hope against hope that someday I'll get to meet him.

This look at his life, his music, his humor and his heart is unforgettable. If you've lived the ups and downs of a committed Christian life over the last 20 or 30 years you will be touched deeply, and you will shed a few tears. You will also be entertained with laughter and the lyrics of unforgettable songs from the Old Time Gospel genre.

Veggie Tales - Lyle the Kindly Viking (G)

Product Details Well, it had to happen--Archibald Asparagus is hosting his own VeggieTales show. The 15th video from this groundbreaking Christian-lite company gives us plenty of what makes the series so much fun: leader Bob the Tomato, daffy Larry the Cucumber, catchy songs, and scattershot humor. Tired of the wacky ways of the normal VeggieTales shows, Archibald wants to inject an element of class. First up: an all-vegetable staging of Hamlet. Unfortunately, the only script that can be found is a slightly different version called "Omelet." The Bard's famous lines take a beating with the usual Monty Python-esque humor of the Veggie crew. Next, after an Archibald-influenced "Silly Songs with Larry" segment, the featured event of the evening proves to be the lost Gilbert & Sullivan musical Lyle the Kindly Viking. This brawny band of Vikings love their job (and have an affinity for big-screen TVs) but cannot understand why the meek Lyle (Junior Asparagus, natch) wants to share his meager belongings with their victims. Certainly, the sharing ways of Lyle will win the day. After such experiments as the Larry-Boy shows, which dropped the series' familiar opening and even Bob himself, this familiarly structured VeggieTales video is a joy to watch and illustrates how far the creators have come while sticking to their roots. For ages 4 and up. --Doug Thomas
